Shipping Olive Oil & Cretan Products Abroad
Every autumn the same question reaches our office: can I send the family's oil to my children in New York, Munich or Melbourne? Usually yes — we have been doing exactly that for thirty years. Here is how it works.
What We Ship Most
Olive oil in tins or bottles, wine, raki, honey, rusks and dried herbs, packed at our Heraklion premises into export cartons or wooden crates. Sealed factory packaging travels best; family oil in bulk goes into proper sealed tins before it ships.
The Rules Depend on the Destination
Inside the EU, goods move freely — a box of oil to Germany or France clears no customs at all. Outside the EU every country has its own food rules. The USA treats personal gifts differently from commercial imports; Australia inspects food shipments under strict biosecurity law and refuses some categories outright. We check your items against the destination's current rules before you pay anything — if something can't travel, you hear it from us first.
Air or Sea?
Small quantities go as air parcels with direct departures from Heraklion — fast, priced by weight. Larger consignments travel by sea in shared containers, priced mainly by volume. Between a few tins for family and a pallet for a shop the right answer differs, so the quote shows both when both make sense.
Commercial Exports
For shops and importers we handle regular consignments: export paperwork, labeling requirements, palletizing and freight to your buyer's door, with warehousing in Heraklion if you need it.
Common Questions
Can I send olive oil to the USA?
Personal quantities are generally possible with the right declaration; commercial shipments involve US food-import requirements. Tell us the quantity and who receives it, and we confirm what applies.
How should oil be packed?
Sealed metal tins inside strong cartons, gaps filled so nothing moves. We pack it for you — a leak in a container is everyone's problem.
Is there a minimum quantity?
No. One box is a normal shipment for us.
